The Scriptures tell us:

Romans 13:1-5, NKJV

Verse 1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Verse 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

Verse 3  For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.

Verse 4 For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

Verse 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake.  For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing.

First Timothy 2:1-4, NKJV

Verse 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,

Verse 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Verse 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

Verse 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  (First Timothy 2:1-4, NKJV)

In 70 A.D., the author of the Scriptures didn’t have, ’the men and women of law enforcement,’ in his vocabulary.  The closest thing he could say was, ’authorities.’  Verse 1 tells us that you, the law enforcement official, are in law enforcement because God Himself thought you would be a good cop.  He knew you had a love for people (you sure aren’t an officer of the peace because of the money)  and a desire to see the world in better shape than what you found it in.

Verse 2 tells us that when a person breaks the law of the land he also makes God unhappy.  The Scripture goes on to tell us that when a law breaker resists arrest he gets more than just a charge of resisting arrest here on earth.

Verse 3 shows us that you, the law enforcement official, make the criminal sweat.  Ever wonder why that is true???  Not because your sidearm holds more than ten rounds, many times theirs do too.  Not because of the necessary force applied when you apprehend them, most criminals have had the snot stomped out of them more than a few times.  Not because of the fact that if convicted they will be grounded (confined) for the term of their sentence,  a lot of repeat offenders spend more time behind bars than they do on the outside.  The criminal is afraid of you, and in many cases hates you, because God said you are a TERROR to them.  Here in the US the average law abiding citizen has no fear of a police officer.  Just watch the criminal though on a seemingly routine traffic stop.  They have to pretend to not be nervous.

Verse 4 tells us all that you are a minister of God Himself to protect His creation.  He could not be here bodily to protect us so He asked you to fill in for Him before you were even born. (I just want to thank you personally.  Without you I would be up nights with the 12 gauge  across my lap to keep the ruffians out of my stuff)  The Scripture goes on to say that you do not bear the Glock in vain.   You enforce the laws of the land, not in an arrogant, ‘because I can,’ attitude, but rather in a kind fashion when you can, tough when you must.  Even though it seems like a never ending struggle, arresting a seemingly endless assortment of suspects, your patrolling the streets keep us safe.

I Timothy 2:1 and 2 tells Christians to be in prayer for and to be grateful for everyone in government, from the President to the Precinct Committeeman and everyone in between.   You are in this group that we are thankful for your protection so that we can lead our quiet and peaceable lives.  Verse 3 tells us this makes God happy too.  Verse 4 tells us what we can do to make (Daddy) God REAL happy—get saved!!!   You may be wondering, ‘How do I get saved?’ Romans 10:9, and 10 tell us that if you confess with your mouth  the Lord Jesus (say  aloud that Jesus is now your King) and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, (that He is alive from the dead, never to die again) you will be saved (have eternal life). When you do this you become a citizen of the Kingdom of God, with all its rights, privileges, and responsibilities.  Below is a sample prayer to repeat aloud to receive Jesus:

“Father God, I believe Jesus lived a perfect life on this earth and died on the cross to take my sin.  I believe You raised Him from the dead so that I could live forever.  Jesus,  come into my heart, be my Lord, and save me now! Amen.’

Perhaps you asked Jesus into your heart a long time ago, but when you grew up you kind of drifted away from Him.  He is not mad at you.  He loves you.  He served YOUR sentence before you were born.  How many times have you seen an upstanding citizen tell the Court in a murder case, ‘Your Honor, send me to the gas chamber instead.’?  It would take supernatural love to perform that task but yet that is exactly what Jesus did for you.  He wants to talk to you like you talk to your best friend.    He stands ready, willing, and able to protect you as you go about your job protecting society.  Below is a sample prayer for re-dedication:

“Father God I am sorry that I have not served you the way I should have.  I rededicate my life to You.  I will serve You to the best of my ability for the rest of my life.  I believe Your Holy Spirit will teach me how to serve You and make You happy.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you prayed either of these prayers and meant it please call us, we’d love to hear about it.  If your kids are sick, your spouse is unhappy, or you are experiencing burn out, please call us, we’d love to pray with you.  We already pray for you.
